Simon Munthali

Ph.D. Ichthyology

Dr. Munthali, is a wildlife Biologist and Ichthyologist, with 38 years’
experience in the biodiversity conservation sector – spanning several
Eastern and Southern African countries, including – Angola, Botswana,
DR Congo, Eswatini, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South
Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. He has authored over 40
scholarly publications on terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity, including
complex natural resources management challenges in Malawi and
southern Africa, published in international peer-reviewed journals, such
as African Journal of Ecology; Journal of Biodiversity & Conservation;
Journal of Applied Ichthyology; Natural Resources Forum; Journal of
Zoology (London), Oryx, etc.

He is a recipient of the 1997 WWF GOLDEN PANDA AWARD for his contribution to biodiversity conservation; an Ex-Chairman of the Shire River Basin Environmental Support Trust; a co-founder member of the Southern African Foundation for Agriculture and Climate Change (SAFFACC).
